Thatch Music proudly presents the Sticky Triggers, South Africa's premier function band.


In an age of synthesized music, the Sticky Triggers is a live ensemble committed to delivering a flawlessly executed performance in keeping with the traditions of yesteryear. Available as a full twenty piece big band or in the blink of an eye, a trio, the band's unique sound is an amalgamation of 1940's and 50's America, the vibrance of the Sophiatown era, sensual Cuban arrangements as well as both local and international Pop hits.


The Sticky Triggers guarantees a world class performance whether catering for the wedding or corporate market or as a session band for popular music artists. All musical direction, live arrangement and performance co-ordination exist within Thatch Music's Live department, a one-stop option which will ensure peace of mind for the client and promises an unforgettable experience for the audience.

Older and wiser, James Frank now leads the Sticky Triggers on a pioneering musical journey. With virtually flawless execution and a dazzling repertoire of songs, their unique sound is an amalgamation of American big band swing, vibrant South African jazz from the Sophiatown era, Sensual Cuban Arrangements and both local and international Pop Hits.

Famously reworking golden oldies and modern hits, their up-tempo, swanky style is guaranteed to get the audience on their feet and the dance floor cooking.

JI should have been around to swing with my baby to Duke Ellington and his boys, do the township jive to Dolly Rathebe and The Elite Swingsters, and sweat out a salsa to Dizzy Gillespie's molten Cuban-Jazz fusion! As a twenty-four old in a driving music industry that only seems to ever look forward, it feels strange that I constantly find myself reminiscing over a period of music that I didn't even belong to.

The 1940's and 50's is an era where I have always believed musicians balanced instinctive rhythm and artistic purity perfectly. THIS is where the Sticky Triggers was born - artists dedicated to providing a unique, authentic evening of thrilling dance music.

Tunes such as "Mack the knife", "Meadowlands", "Oye Como Va" and even Mango Groove's "Special Star" are all found on the same program, as well as marvelous reworkings of tunes from some of our favorite other styles - keep an ear out for our spectacular Beatles Medley!
