Beat-Route is a classic traditional jazz combo. The band has, over its 3 years, developed an extensive repertoire of originals, standards, grooves, Latin, Afro, popular and show tunes executed with real panache and style in the jazz idiom, and has made quite a reputation in Durban featuring regularly at corporate functions, parties, weddings, fairs, restaurants and on the local jazz circuit.

The Quartet features front-man and band-leader Daniel Sheldon on trumpet, the inimitable giant of the jazz guitar Mr Gerald Sloan on guitar, Logan Byrne on upright bass and Mr Tony Muirhead on drums. We sometimes augment the band with other instrumentalists/vocalists if the need arises.

The Band can be found currently on two regular gigs in Durban; a relaxed fri lunch gig at ‘Market’ (prev ‘Manna’)on Marriot rd 12:30-2:30pm, and a more formal evening gig at ‘Society’ on Florida rd 8-10pm.

Beat-Route has played countless gigs now and has built good following and relationships on the corporate, wedding and entertainment circuits through a professional attitude and polished routine.

Gigs: Siemens: official opening new factory in New Germany 07 and High Profile Client cocktail function at IRRT World Conference at ICC 08, Tops Spar Whiskey Fairs 2007/8 (Dbn and PE), E.C.R House and Garden Show 08,  theDaly Call center official opening 08, Wine week 2007, Mercury Bridal Fair 07/08, heritage Bridal Fair 07, Various corp functions at uShaka Marine World Aquarium -we are one of the recommended function bands- , B.A.S.A  Arts Launch function at Absa stadium 08, Le Domaine Guinness World Record synchronized Swimming Event 06, Bean Bag Bohemia Birthday Parties as well as their catering subsidiary ‘Blend’ launch and various functions incl MTN fashion week party.

We were also a feature at the ‘Naked Heart Party’ at the Durban Manor 07.Beat-Route have also played regularly at restaurants BBB, Upper Deck uShaka Marine World,  KZNSA, St Tropez, Zulu Jazz Lounge, Manna and Society,  and recently were the main feature established band at the Suncoast month end jazz gig.
